What a Beautiful Morning!
Thank you all for a beautiful celebration of the feast day of our patron, St. Francis! Having folks from both services together at one time set the tone for everything that followed: Morning Prayer with Holy Eucharist, an inspiring message from David Sanchez, fellowship at the Lord’s Table and then at the potluck picnic. The Holy Spirit was definitely among us! All of you who set up, cleaned up, brought food, and visited with your St. Francis neighbors, please know how much your efforts are noticed and appreciated! And from me personally, thank you for the birthday wishes. It’s been a great week! CFB+
“Life Together in Rutherfordton”
This Sunday at 4:00 pm, the Rutherfordton Minsters’ group will host the next in our Peace and Reconciliation Events at St. John’s AME Zion . This will be a community forum, with a panel of folks representing “Life Together in Ruff’ton.” Panelists Rodrigo Chavez, restaurant owner; St. Francis’ own Josephine Conn, longtime resident of Rutherfordton; Dick Craft, retired school teacher and coach; Keith Lipsey, pastor and social worker; and Sandra McGriff, health care provider, will share their experiences of life in Rutherfordton, and then answer questions submitted by members of the audience. Andrea Fite will serve as moderator.
Location: St. John AME Zion Church 109 South Ridgecrest Drive, Rutherfordton
Assistance to Storm Victims
When a natural disaster like Hurricane Matthew affects our world we all want to help, yet we may not know exactly what to do or how to direct our assistance for the folks who need it most. Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) is “an international relief and development agency and a compassionate response to human suffering on behalf of The Episcopal Church. Our work to heal a hurting world is guided by the principles of compassion, dignity and generosity.” There are two ways for you to contribute to ERD’s efforts to assist the victims of Hurricane Matthew: place your contribution in the offering plate on Sunday, and be sure to mark it “ERD.” We’ll send a combined check to them. Or, if you’d prefer, you may contribute directly to ERD by visiting their website at www.episcopalrelief.org. Either way, your contribution is tax deductible.
