Lenten Studies

As we approach the last two weeks of Lent, we also approach the end of our Lenten studies. Our noon brown-bag group will discuss the last two chapters of Give Up Something Bad for Lent on Thursday, April 10 and Thursday, April 17. This has been an insightful study with excellent discussions. If you purchased the book but have not been able to attend all the sessions, please consider coming for the last two weeks.

Our Thursday evening adult Lenten study has also been informative, with good discussion about our upcoming Holy Week liturgies. Our children have enjoyed learning to Pray in Color and playing outside in the warmth of spring evenings. Many thanks to those who have provided delicious soup and bread for our evening meal, and to all those who have come to participate in both fellowship and learning. Thursday, April 10 will be the last evening for these Lenten studies.

Worship During Lent

During Lent, we’ll be worshiping using Rite I at both services and there are a few other changes to watch for. On the First Sunday of Lent, March 9, we’ll begin both services with The Great Litany, which takes the place of the Prayers of the People. Beginning on the Second Sunday of Lent, we’ll use the Trisagion in place of the Gloria, and at the 10:30 service it will be sung. There will be no other service music during Lent. Alleluia is on vacation and will return on Easter Sunday. These changes remind us that we are walking with Jesus on the road to Jerusalem, through repentance to salvation and a glorious Easter!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be Sunday, April 13th, following the 10:30 am service in the yard of the Parish House. Children ages 12 and under are welcome to participate. Pizza will be provided for the children.

Passion Reading

If you are interested in participating in a dramatic reading of the Passion on Palm Sunday, please call Chris+ or email the church office. If you have previously discussed your participation with Chris+, please remind her via email. We are in need of male voices. The practice for the Passion reading will be on Saturday, April 12th at 10:00 am in the church and will last for approximately an hour.
