Habitat for Humanity

Hhabitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization that builds simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter. The Liaison keeps the parish informed as to the needs and activities of Habitat. Members of the parish volunteer to help build the homes, assist at the Habitat ReStore, and in numerous other ways.

Homeless Shelters

The Liaison keeps the Parish informed as to the needs of the local homeless shelters.

Hospice - Liaison

Hospice is a nonprofit organization that provides physical, emotional and spiritual care for terminally ill persons and their families regardless of age, sex, race, religion or economic status. Members of the parish volunteer at the county Hospice House in a variety of ways. The Liaison keeps the parish informed of special needs of Hospice House and special events, such as volunteer training, taking place with Hospice.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated. The St Francis team for Relay for Life organize several fund raising projects during the year, such as their Salad Lunch in May and their Silent Auction. During the summer of 2012, they organized a family movie night for the parish.

Yokefellow

Yokefellow's Thrift Store is the area's largest full-line department resale store. They stock quality pre-owned and new items every day. The money you spend in the Thrift Store goes directly to their Client Services Department and is used to help meet the needs of Rutherford County citizens during times of financial crisis. When you shop with Yokefellow, you not only save lots of money while getting quality merchandise - but you also give a "hand up" to some folks who are temporarily down on their luck.

Christmas Cheer

The Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program gives assistance to families in Rutherford County. Those applying for help must bring photo IDs, proof of income, proof of residency like a utility bill or a rent receipt, and Social Security cards for each member of the family. Children through age 12 are eligible to receive gifts through the center. Members of our parish can support this project by derssing baby dolls and teddy bears and filling stockings.

College Students

The College Student ministry strives to stay in touch with St Francis young people who are away at college, reminding them that they are loved and remembered.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Every year, at Thanksgiving, Real Estate Agents from Rutherford County team up with St. Francis to provide a community Thanksgiving Dinner.
